Chicago

Originally "Shikaakwa" (onion) in native language and appointing this plant was growing abundantly on the shores of Lake Michigan, the word has slowly switched to "Chegacou" by French settlers who traded among natives. The small trading settlement happened to be called Chicago by the end of XVII century. When the fire of 1871 damaged much of the city the need of building became almost an obsession. A massive trend of architecture developped vertical construction: decorative elements were replaced by windows between pillars, enhancing ventilation and light. There is so much to see in Chicago: its skyscrapers, the Old Town, the harbour... Lake Michigan looks more like an ocean than a large lake! Distances are so extreme that one is lost in such immensity...
As always we will walk on the streets in the shadow of its buildings, pass under bridges of the elevated train, walk along the Riverwalk and stop by Millenium Park. Enjoy the windy city!

Yo no podía... me daba miedo!
      Besitos,
      Anne.
